ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE TO BENEFIT HOMELESS DOGS

"Knick Knack Paddywhack– Give a Dog a Home" Parade sponsored by Historic Mentone Springs Hotel

March 5, 2012---Mentone, Alabama----The Mentone Springs Hotel today announced that it will host the first annual "Knick Knack Paddwhack – Give a Dog a Home," Parade on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at 11 a.m. CST. The parade will benefit DeKalb County non-profit animal organizations.

Registration for the parade will begin in the parking lot of the hotel at 10 a.m. Entry fee is $10 per dog. St. Patrick's Day attire is highly recommended for dogs and owners. Prizes for Best of Show, Most Original Costume, Worst Costume, Cute Dog Ugly Owner, and many others will be awarded.

"We hope dog lovers from throughout the region will come and stay with us and in other area B&B's, participate in the parade, shop and dine in Mentone, and help us raise money for a great cause, said Bill Thomas, General Manger of the Mentone Springs Hotel. "We'll have dog goodies available, vendors, art-work and plan for agreat dog-friendly weekend."

In addition to the parade, there will be a silent auction on the hotel's front porch, featuring items acquired from area artists and local's, including a weekend stay at the Mentone Springs Hotel valued at $500. Lunch will be served at the hotel's restaurant with a portion of the proceeds going to the event. A traditional corn beef on rye sandwich, Irish- Stew, chicken salad, and other menu items will be available. Those wanting to order to go lunches should call ahead.

An Irish feast will be served the Mentone Springs Hotel Saturday night beginning at 6:30 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Robert Jordan and James Roberts.
